Rafael Nadal has dominated American teenage wildcard Darwin Blanch in the opening round of the ATP's Madrid Open, for just his second win since January

Nadal demolished Branch 6-1 6-love to move into a second round meeting with the man he lost to last week in Barcelona - Aussie Alex de Minaur.

The 21-year age gap between 37-year-old Nadal and 16-year-old Blanch is the biggest in Masters 1000 history.

By the time Blanch was born Nadal had won three grand slams.
