Auckland's High Court has declined to split up the trial over Sky City Convention Centre fire

Auckland's High Court has declined to split up the trial over Sky City Convention Centre fire

A 14-week trial over liability for the devastating blaze in 2019 is scheduled next year.

Main contractor Fletcher Construction claims the fire was caused by MPM Waterproofing Services and JEL Waterproofing.

They were subcontracted to work on the roof, the main fire zone.

Business Desk reports, MPM and JEL wanted the hearing to be in two parts - hoping for a shorter trial if the first part went in their favour.

Justice Sally Fitzgerald has declined the request.
