    Former Wellington Phoenix player Ulises Davila is reportedly one of three players from Macarthur FC arrested over an alleged betting scandal


    It relates to the alleged conceding of yellow cards in certain matches for gambling purposes.

    Police have not named the players involved, but Davila has been named by Australian outlets as the supposed ringleader of the scheme.

    A 27-year-old teammate and 32-year-old teammate have also been arrested and are expected to be charged this afternoon.

    It's suspected the two players were paid a sum of money for their role - assistant commissioner Michael Fitzgerald explains.



    Meanwhile the Wellington Phoenix's home semifinal second-leg against the Melbourne Victory tomorrow has sold out.
