The man accused of stabbing a Christchurch police dog has been excused a court appearance as he is still in hospital.
A 23-year-old man has been charged with attempting to murder a police officer and wounding a police dog.
Two police officers were stabbed in the chest and police dog Koal was stabbed in the head when police were called to a break in at Hoon Hay in late September.
The man accused of attacking them was due to appear today, but remains in hospital recovering from injuries he incurred on the night - he will now appear at the end of the month.
Koal recovered enough to go back to work a couple of weeks ago.
