Black Caps too good for Bangladesh

Black Caps produce comprehensive performance to beat Bangladesh in first one day cricket international

    5 February 2010
The Black Caps have produced a comprehensive all round performance to beat Bangladesh by 146 runs in the first one day cricket international in Napier.

After posting an impressive 336 for nine from 50 overs, New Zealand dismissed Bangladesh for 190.

Jacob Oram has been named man-of-the-match for a dashing 83 off 40 balls with the bat, and two wickets with the ball.

Oram and Neil Broom produced a record seventh wicket partnership of 123, with Broom making his first One Day International half century.

Peter Ingram made 69 on debut, while Ross Taylor also passed 50.

Andrew McKay took two for 40 off eight overs, while captain Daniel Vettori grabbed three for 33.

Bangladesh hit the Black Caps hard early on in the chase, with Tamim Iqbal making 62, but regular wickets eventually cost the tourists.

The second match is in Dunedin on Monday.
