Kiwis halfback Nathan Fien is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a suspected broken ankle in the St George/Illawarra Dragon's NRL season opening win.
Fien was helped off the field five minute before halftime in the match against the Eels at Parramatta Stadium and was taken to hospital. If x-rays do confirm the worst, Fien will miss the Kiwis' May test against the Kangaroos in Melbourne.
The Parramatta Eels also have an injury concern. Prop Shane Shackleton was forced from the field early in the second-half with a serious hamstring injury.
The Dragons won 18-12 after making just one mistake during the match.
