Bon Jovi ready to welcome fans

Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres has revealed the band decided to play a residency at London’s 02 Arena so their fans could come to them for a change.

Bon Jovi decided to play a residency in London so their fans would come to them.

The ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’ rockers – who kicked off their 12-date concert run at The O2 Arena on Monday (07.06.10) – wanted to stay in the UK capital for several shows because they wanted to play live without the difficulties of touring.

Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres told BANG Showbiz: “A lot of it was because we’d never played indoors and we thought wouldn’t it be a nice idea for people to come and see us for a change without us moving.

“So I’ve made a point of saying hello to all of the security people because we’ll be getting to know each other quite well.

Guitarist Richie Sambora – who was inducted into the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 2009 alongside bandmate Jon Bon Jovi – revealed Tico was particularly keen to set up residency in The O2.

He joked: “Tico made a decree – we will not move for a month!”

Despite achieving superstardom with hits such as ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’, ‘Bad Medicine’ and ‘It’s My Life’, the band – who formed in 1983 – insist they are still as hardworking as they have always been.

Richie said: “Our work ethic has always been the same – you make a record and you work really hard and then we do the promotional tour behind it. We’ve never stopped doing that.

“For every one person who is coming along to see your show, you have to try to put on the best show possible.”
