    Lars Ulrich’s ‘too healthy’ lifestyle

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich thinks his life is a “little too healthy” for that of a normal heavy metal star.

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich thinks his life is a “little too healthy” for a rock star.

The heavy metal sticksman – who is 46 - said he doesn’t get to live as much of a rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle as his 80s heyday, eating protein shakes and health foods.

He told Australian newspaper ‘The Advertiser’: "So how is rock star life? Today it was scrambled egg whites for breakfast, playing Solitaire on my iPad and I got to watch the last of this movie, 'Carlos', that I started watching on the plane, and here's my blueberry protein shake. As you can tell, it's a little too healthy."

The ‘That Was Just Your Life’ rocker also said his main responsibility outside of the band at home in San Francisco is to act as chauffer to his sons – Myles, 12, Layne, nine and Bryce, three.

He added: "Yes, I am a Mr Mom. I take care of three kids pretty much full time.

“My main job is being a taxi driver or a chauffeur. I just drive kids around all day. So when I'm on tour, I get a chance to be driven, and handed blueberry protein shakes — without vodka — and to sit and check my lack of hair in this mirror."
