Jason Segel thinks it'll be hard to cut 'The Five-Year Engagement'

Jason Segel thinks it is going to be "hard" to edit 'The Five-Year Engagement' because it is "so funny"

The 32-year-old actor - who has co-written the film, which he is also starring in - believes it will be a tough ask to cut parts of the romantic-comedy movie because "every scene" is "so good".

He explained: "This is going to be a hard movie to edit because honest to God every scene is so good and so funny.

"And a movie like this with all of this improv always turns out with a first cut that is like two-and-a-half hours long and you have to get it down to 98 minutes or something like that."

The movie tells the story of Tom Solomon (Jason) and Violet Barnes' (Emily Blunt) five-year engagement, which sees their relationship become increasingly strained.

And Emily believes the motion picture is "refreshing" because the characters in the film - which also stars Rhys Ifans and Alison Brie - are "so juicy" due to their individuality.

Speaking to Collider.com, she added: "I think you cast very specific people too. So I feel like there is real distinction with the characters. Rhys' character's voice is utterly different from Alison's or someone else. That is what I find really refreshing about the movie.

"Rhys put it really well. He said, 'Every scene is just so juicy'. The characters are so juicy because they are very specific. Some of them are larger than life but yet you feel that you have met people like that."
