Demi Moore has changed her twitter name

The actress announced the end of her six-year marriage to Ashton Kutcher seven months ago but recently removed the actor's last name from association with her micro-blogging account.

The 49-year-old star formerly known as @mrskutcher on the website announced: "So hard finding a name that was fun, somewhat playful and available. So for now it will be @justdemi. It could grow on me!"

She also acknowledged her followers who assisted her in the search for a new alias.

She wrote: "Thanks everyone for your help in finding my new name!"

The 'Lovelace' actress first asked her 4.9 million followers for their opinion on a new twitter name in April.

She wrote: "Time for a change, Twitter name change. Any suggestions?

"Collecting all the suggestions! Thank you. Keep them coming!"

Demi had previously defended her decision to keep her username in 2011.

She posted: "Changing my Twitter name isn't a top priority right now. Sorry it bothers so many of you. Should I not tweet until I do? Does it really matter?"
