Matthew McConaughey sees marriage as "an adventure"

The 42-year-old actor married long-term girlfriend Camila Alves at their Texas home on June 9 and the couple are excited about what the future holds.

Matthew told People magazine: "We decided to embrace the ritual of marriage as an opportunity and adventure we'll take together."

The couple's children Levi, three, and Vida, two, played important roles in the service, acting as ring bearer and flower girl respectively and Camila believes the kids understood the significance of the wedding.

She said: "Somehow they both seem to understand what we are doing on a spiritual level."

It has been claimed that the couple kept their wedding vows private by whispering them.

A source said: "They whispered them in each other's ears. No one knew what they said. Whatever they said was very emotional. [Camila] was tearing up.''

The guests at the wedding - which included Reese Witherspoon, Kenny Chesney and Woody Harrelson - spent three days at the couple's home and slept in luxury tents erected in the grounds of the property.

They were entertained with lawn games such as beanbag and ring toss, as well as being served beer while lounging in hammocks.
