US band 'upset' at use of song on NZ site

US band Train says they find it 'upsetting' that a New Zealand anti-gay marriage website featured their song Marry Me.

A US band says the use of their song on a New Zealand anti-gay marriage website is "upsetting" and not something they had agreed to.

Train's song Marry Me featured on the Protect Marriage website which was set up by a number of groups opposed to Labour MP Louisa Wall's marriage equality bill.

The bill was pulled from parliament's ballot last week and will have its first reading this month.

The band said in a statement: "It was upsetting to us that Marry Me, a love song with no boundaries, was being used to promote an agenda we don't subscribe to".

The song has since been removed from the site.

It's another blow to the new site which was taken down on Monday night after a number of large scale denial of service attacks. It has since been put back online.

The website has information and resources and a petition to "support the definition of marriage being maintained as one man one woman" and oppose any attempt to redefine this.
