A person has died after a truck and car collided near Pokeno, south of Auckland.
The crash happened about 8pm on Tuesday on State Highway 1 about 200m north of the SH2 junction in Pokeno, police said in a statement.
There are diversions in place on SH1 both north and south of Pokeno and at the end of SH2 preventing traffic going north. The northbound ramp onto the Auckland-Hamilton Motorway at Helenslee Road is closed.
Motorists are being advised to delay trips on SH1.
