Kevin Costner has been approached to star in two new movies

The 'Hatfields & McCoys' star is top choice for director Kenneth Branagh to star in his Jack Ryan reboot, an origins story based on Tom Clancy's books which will feature Chris Pine as the main character.

Kevin's role is thought to be a recruiter of and mentor to Jack, in the film which will also see the director take on the part of a Russian villain who plots to wreck the US economy.

Meanwhile, Kevin has been offered the role of Ethan Renner, a government assassin with a terminal condition, in 'Three Days to Kill'.

Before he dies, he chooses to take on one last mission and find a way to reconcile with his daughter.

McG is set to direct the movie which has been scripted by Luc Besson and Adi Hasak.

Kevin is winning rave reviews for his role in 'Hatfields & McCoys' and has been nominated for an Emmy award for lead actor in a mini-series or movie.

He said: "I have to be honest, this is a thrill, this is really great.

"When I first read it, I knew it had a chance to be classic if we did what was written. I wasn't surprised when it turned out that people liked it, but I was surprised when I learned it was this phenomenal."
