Nicola Browne and Sophie Devine have come out of retirement to bolster the New Zealand women's cricket team at the ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka next month.
The pair have been named in an experienced 14-woman squad which is captained by Suzie Bates.
Browne debuted for her country in 2001 while Devine has juggled international hockey and cricket commitments, focusing on the latter after missing selection in the Black Sticks for the London Olympics.
National selection manager Kim Littlejohn said he was excited by what the White Ferns could achieve at the tournament, starting against the West Indies on September 26, followed by further pool games against South Africa and Sri Lanka.
"We are pleased to have Nicola Browne back. She was the player of the tournament in the last ICC World Twenty20 and offers the group a great deal of experience and leadership," Littlejohn said.
"Sophie Devine also returns to the side having made a fast return to cricket from her time with NZ Hockey. She is a quality allrounder and we expect she will play a key role in Sri Lanka."
New Zealand coach Gary Stead was happy with the buildup after a lengthy break from outdoor cricket.
"The recent warm-up series in Sri Lanka was invaluable and we believe this is the squad that will make the best use of the conditions we will come across.
"While some difficult decisions have been made, we are very excited by this group and in particular the return of experienced players."
