    Four arrested after attempted kidnapping

Police have arrested four people in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a man from a Matakana property, north of Auckland.

Four people have been arrested after they tried to kidnap a man from his home in rural Matakana, north of Auckland.

Two men and two women, all known to the victim, arrived at a property in Matakana in a black BMW on Tuesday morning, police say.

It's alleged two of offenders assaulted the man and that a firearm was involved.

The man was able to escape and a short time later police were alerted to the incident.

The two men, aged 37 and 22, and two women, aged 21 and 19, were found at a Mahurangi property.

The two men have been charged with attempted kidnapping and commission of a crime with a firearm. The two women are charged with similar offences.

All four will appear in North Shore District Court on Wednesday.
