    Woman falls to death in Piha

    A woman has died in a fall at Piha, west of Auckland, and police are trying to contact family members in Australia.


    A woman has died after a fall on Lion Rock in Piha west of Auckland.

    The 36-year-old was believed to be climbing with friends when she fell to her death, Sergeant Andrew Burdett of Henderson police said.

    The woman's body was found at the base of Lion Rock about 2.45am on Saturday.

    Her name is not being released while police try to contact family members in Australia.
