    Man denies mansion double killing

The trial of a man accused of the Auckland mansion double killing has begun after an earlier trial was abandoned because two jurors could not carry on.

Two men were stabbed to death as they tried to evict a man from an Auckland mansion, a court has been told.

Cheng Qi Wang, 52, is accused of murdering Zhuo Wu, 44, and Yishan Zhong, 52, after they were stabbed at the $2-million Mt Albert property in January last year.

Mr Zhong was found dead on the driveway, while Mr Wu died soon after he was found with 23 stab wounds.

Wang's first trial was abandoned earlier this year because two jurors could not continue, and a second trial got under way in the High Court at Auckland on Monday, Fairfax reports.

The Crown alleges that on seeing the two men, Wang pulled a hunting knife from his bedside table and attacked them.

Wang, 52, also known as Chris, denies murdering the men, and says they attacked him.

He met police at the front door in blood-soaked pyjamas and later told them he stabbed Wu after wrestling a knife off him but did not stab Zhong.

A hunting knife and a kitchen knife were found at the house with both men's blood on them.

Prosecutor Kevin Glubb said the deaths followed a long-running dispute between Wang and his former partner Michelle Chen over properties they owned.

She claimed she was not receiving income from them and wanted Wang out of one of their houses.

The trial is expected to last four weeks.
