The Pet Shop Boys and Katherine Jenkins serenaded athletes at London Olympic Parade

The parade saw British athletes who had competed in the Olympic and Paralympic Games transported through London to outside Buckingham Palace, where speeches were given by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and Prime Minister David Cameron before pop acts took to the stage.

Amy MacDonald was first to perform on the Queen Victoria Memorial, singing her song 'Pride', accompanied by acoustic guitar.

She later tweeted: "Thank you so much for all the lovely messages. I felt so honoured to be there today and to be part of an amazing celebration for Team GB!"

The Pet Shop Boys then played a number of their songs including 'West End Girls', 'Go West' and the aptly-titled 'Winner'.

Katherine Jenkins sung the British national anthem, 'God Save the Queen' before The Noisettes closed the show.

Gold medalist Victoria Pendleton said the parade had been "emotional."

The cyclist said: "It makes you feel so proud. It makes me feel proud to be British. We did such a good job of hosting the games."
