Jesse Tyler Ferguson has married Justin Mikita.

The 'Modern Family' actor tied the knot with the 27-year-old lawyer on Saturday in a ceremony in New York which was officiated by playwright Tony Kushner.

Following the reception, Jesse, 37, tweeted: "Never been happier. XO Goodnight! (sic)”

Guests included Cat Deeley and Nigel Lythgoe, who tweeted: "I think the service at Justin and Jesse's wedding was so beautifully honest.

It was so emotional that when we weren't laughing we were crying."

Jesse proposed to Justin in June 2012 but only announced the news last September and his fiance has previously opened up about his love for the actor.

Justin said: "I adore Jesse in all ways and I think we are very compatible personally and business-wise. He's much more creative and I'm more business-oriented. I get stressed out and have certain ways of doing things and Jesse can deal with it for the most part and that's half the battle."

The couple found planning their big day so overwhelming that they hired a wedding planner to take care of it.

Jesse said: "I did go get a Martha Stewart Weddings magazine but it's really a lot of over-the-top stuff, a lot of bridesmaids' gifts.

Neither one of us ever dreamed of getting married. Maybe in the back of our heads we did, but we don't have a book of our dream wedding . .

. It's a lot of learning as we go."
