Russell Brand is planning a romantic reunion with British reality TV star Ferne McCann after it emerged they secretly dated years ago.

The 38-year-old funnyman previously went out with the 23-year-old stunner – who appears on reality show 'The Only Way is Essex', on which she recently split with boyfriend Charlie Sims – before he married Katy Perry and moved to the US, but they are planning to meet up in Los Angeles next month.

A source said: "They clicked straight away when they met a few years back and went on quite a few dates. “Things only fizzled out when Russell moved to LA and Ferne started to get close to Charlie from the show.”

Ferne was recently left devastated after splitting form Charlie and has been in tears several times on the show as a result of their break up, but she has found some solace after she started texting Russell again.

The source added to the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "It was after they both found themselves single that they started exchanging messages again.

“Nothing is certain, but they’ll definitely be catching up. Watch this space."

Russell – who split from Katy in December 2011 after 14 months of marriage - was recently romantically linked with magazine editor Jemima Khan, but in late September he told the crowd at his stand-up show in Atlanta, Georgia, he is single.
