    Actor's friends set up fund

Memorial fund to be set up for family of Kevin Smith who died of head injuries in Beijing on Saturday

    20 February 2002
Fans who want to donate money to the family of actor Kevin Smith will soon be able to do so through the Internet.

The 38-year-old died in a Beijing Hospital on Saturday, after sustaining head injuries in a fall.

His agent, Robert Bruce and actors, Lucy Lawless and Michael Hurst plan to set up the Kevin Smith Foundation by next week.

Mr Bruce says they are setting up the Foundation following an outpouring from fans wanting to do something for Smith's family.

He says there will also be a memorial service for fans but he is unsure when.

Mr Bruce hopes to get the body flown back to New Zealand by the end of the week.
