Cheap Night Rider flights to go

Air New Zealand says it is discontinuing its "very popular" Night Rider flights between Auckland and Wellington and Auckland and Christchurch.

Air New Zealand is scrapping its cheap late-night flights.

Night Rider flights, which have been offered between Auckland and Wellington since November 2012, were up for grabs for $29.

The flights are the last to take off from both cities on all days except Tuesday and Wednesday - usually around 10pm.

Night Rider flights were extended to the route between Auckland and Christchurch in November last year for $39.

Both will cease on January 31.

Air New Zealand says the fares have proven "very popular".

"If, when and where Night Rider will be offered again is still being considered," an Air New Zealand spokeswoman said.

Night Rider flights offered no inflight drink or snack service and were not offered to minors travelling unaccompanied.

Passengers also had no access to Air New Zealand's Koru Lounge.
