Miley Cyrus has given away her new puppy.

The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker was gifted little Mooney earlier this month by her mother Tish Cyrus after her beloved Alaskan Klee Kai Floyd was killed by a coyote, but she has decided it is too soon to care for a new pet.

Miley tweeted: "Moonie, thank you for giving me so much love, comfort, & peace. It's just to soon for me right now #missingmoonie (sic)"

The 21-year-old star admitted she was "scared" to care for another small dog after what had happened to Floyd, so had Moonie rehomed with a friend's mother.

Asked where he had gone, she told a twitter follower: "my friends mom who has a tiny pup 4 him 2 play with Molly. After wht happened Im scared 2 have a tiny dog (sic)"

Miley previously admitted she didn't feel "ready" for another dog after being given Moonie.

She tweeted: "I wanna sleep but all I can do is cry I never wanna go home to a house where Floyd isnt running & playing how do I get thru this

"I feel physically sick & I am so emotionally and physically exhausted I feel like I have nothing else to give sweet baby Moonie

"Maybe I'm not ready yet.... But being alone won't bring him back to me..... I'm at a loss I don't know what to do (sic)".
