Johnny Depp is hopeless with modern technology.

The 50-year-old actor - who has children Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11, with former partner Vanessa Paradis - says his kids have learned not to ask him for help with their homework because he can only advise on music or history.

He said: "As far as technology... let me put it to you this way.

"My kids are smart enough to not come to me for any questions about the computer, even homework for that matter.

"Unless it's got to do with history or the future or music, I'm good.

"If it's math and all that, I'm down the road."

The 'Transcendence' star also admitted one of the "best experiences" of his life was cramming into an electric Tesla car with its founder Elon Musk, director Wall Pfister and co-stars Paul Bettany and Rebecca Hall - but their fun was cut short after they were stopped for speeding.

Johnny is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: "I had one of the best experiences I've ever had. The director introduced me to Elon Musk at Tesla. He came and visited the set and we had a ride around in his car but then the police pulled us over.

"We had a first - maybe the first -Tesla jam. I was in the front seat while Paul Bettany was sitting on my lap. Rebecca and Wally were in the back. Elon was driving and we were pulled over speeding."

While the 50-year-actor and his peers found the incident hilarious, he claims the policeman wasn't amused.

He added: "Elon had a good sense of humour about it. The cop did not. He needed a humour chip. But it was a good time, nonetheless."

Tesla are renowned for their fully electric luxury sportscars with the Tesla Roadster able to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in under 4 seconds with top speeds of up to 125mph.
