Katy Perry and Robert Pattinson's friends want them to get together.

The 'Dark Horse' singer and the 'Twilight' star were seen spending the majority of their weekend together at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, having both split with their former partners, and friends of the pair are said to be rooting for them to get together.

A source said: "The pair had a fling a year ago but they went their separate ways after John [Mayer] wooed Katy back and Kristen [Stewart] made it clear that she still wanted her Twilight co-star. "But things have gone cold with R-Patz and K-Stew since, with them both deciding it's time to move on." Rob split from his long-term girlfriend Kristen last year when it was revealed she'd been having an affair with her 'Snow White and the Huntsman' director Rupert Sanders.

Meanwhile, Katy broke it off with her other half earlier this year and mutual friends are hoping that she and Rob will finally get together now their exes are out of the way.

The source told The Sun newspaper: "Katy and Rob are the best of friends with a very strong sexual chemistry. They care a lot about each other but have always been careful not to upset Kristen.

"But Kristen's off doing her own thing and accepting it's time for both of them to move on.

"Friends genuinely want to see them get it together properly. They think they bring out the best in each other."
