Legendary comedy troupe 'Monty Python' perform together for final time

Eric Idle, 71, John Cleese, 74, Michael Palin, 71, Terry Gilliam, 73, and Terry Jones, 72, took their last bow together at London's O2 arena following a sold-out 10 night run which pocketed them all £2.2million each

Celebrities including James Corden, David Walliams and Rob Brydon attended while Mike Myers and Eddie Izzard featured in some of the sketches on the last night of the One Down, Five To Go performances which included many of their classics such as the Dead Parrot sketch.

The troupe received a standing ovation from the crowd of 20,000 at the arena, while the final night was broadcast on UKTV GOLD and in cinemas around the world.

As the quintet took their final bow, the caption Monty Python 1969-2014 could be seen before being replaced by a sign which told the audience to "P**s Off".

The lavish production - which featured state-of-the-art sets, expensive video skits and backing dancers - is thought to have cost £4.5 million to stage.

A portion of the profits will go to the estate of late 'Monty Python' star Graham Chapman, who died in 1989 but continues to have a presence in the troupe's sketches.

Speaking before the final performance, Idle told The Sun newspaper: "I'd just like to be remembered at the end of the show for getting through it. How would I like to be remembered? With a small ripple of applause!"
