Zoe Saldana thought husband's tattoo of her face "the most romantic thing"

The actress' beau Marco Perego - whom she married last year - had her facial features etched onto his arm and, although she tried to persuade him not to get the inking, she believes it symbolises their ever-lasting love

Speaking to PEOPLE.com, she said: "It was the most romantic thing! I didn't stop him, but I did sort of try to talk him out of it. I've done crazier things than that, and I'm pretty sure he has, too."

Zoe, 36, began dating Marco in early 2013, shortly after her split from Bradley Cooper, and she believes they were meant to find each other and fall in love.

She explained: "We found each other, and it was that desire and not that necessity that put us together."

However, the brunette beauty - who dated Keith Britton for 11 years until their split in 2011 - insists she had changed as a person just before she met Marco and had learnt to love herself for who she is.

She said: "I'm where I wanted to be when I would look at myself and say, 'I just have a feeling that it's going to get better, that I'm going to find who I truly am more and more, and I'm going to stick to that road.

"I'm very happy that it happened before I met him, because I didn't want somebody to give me the answers that I should find for myself."
