LeAnn Rimes' stepchildren have asked about her affair with their father

The 'Can't Fight the Moonlight' singer embarked on a relationship with her 'Friday Night Lights' co-star Eddie Cibrian while they were both married to other people, and they tried to be as honest as possible with Mason, 11, and seven-year-old Jake - his kids with ex-wife Brandi Glanville -when they brought up the awkward subject

LeAnn told 'Extra': "The kids actually came to us and asked, very nonchalantly over dinner, and Eddie was very honest with them in a way that you can be with a seven year old and 11 year old.

"[Eddie] is always the first person to say how much he loves me, and they see that in our house, and they feel that, so I think it's important not to lie to children. They understand way more."

The 31-year-old star thinks it is important to be "open" with the boys.

She added: "We both never want them to come back and say, 'You weren't honest with us about this.' They're very open with us, which is cool."

The couple have a new reality show, 'LeAnn & Eddie', and in the trailer for the series, the 41-year-old actor admits their relationship didn't have an ideal start.

He said: "We were both married when we fell in love. Was it the best way to start off? Of course not, but it happened."
