Lea Michele is to guest star in Sons of Anarchy

The 'Glee' actress has signed up for a cameo role in the final season of the biker drama and couldn't be happier to be making an appearance on her "favourite" programme

She tweeted: "Woke up so excited today! Fun news to share...

"I'll be appearing on an episode of my favorite show @SonsofAnarchy! Thank you so much @Harparbar & @sutterink #SOAFX (sic)"

FX went on to reveal to MTV News that the brunette beauty will portray Gertie, an "empathetic truck stop waitress and single mother, who connects with Gemma during a difficult time."

Lea's casting comes after it was recently announced rockers Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson will also appear in the seventh season of the show.

Show creator Kurt Sutter recently revealed the 'Rock is Dead' hitmaker - who

will play "a white supremacist prison shot-caller" named Ron Tully - was desperate for a role.

He said: "Manson, I became friends with through some music buddies. He's a huge fan of the show. That was him just wearing me down. We found a great role for him and he's great."

Kurt admitted he loves casting "outside the box" and the decision to hire Courtney to play a teacher in the upcoming series fitted perfectly with the "fun" he looks for in his cast.

He said: "I tend to do this every season, I like to do some casting that's a little bit outside the box, from Stephen King to David Hasselhoff. We try to do stuff that's fun.

"Courtney I don't know as well [as Manson]. I got to meet her a couple times and I was a huge Nirvana fan. We had this role of a school teacher and I thought, 'Who better than Courtney Love?' It sort of fits into our parameters of 'Sons of Anarchy' casting."
