Suge Knight "lost a lot of blood" after he was shot six times during Chris Brown's party at the weekend.

The 49-year-old producer's family have asked fans to keep the music mogul in their thoughts while he recovers from the violent incident, which led to him undergoing surgery at Cedars Sinai hospital on Sunday.

A statement released on Saturday on behalf of Suge's relatives

reads: "The family of Suge Knight asks that you keep Suge in your prayers and to stray away from the negativity portrayed by the media.

Suge is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he's human.

He's done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you respect that."

Suge was just one of the three victims injured in the shooting, which took place at the 1Oak nightclub in Los Angeles just after 1:30am on Sunday morning.

Party-goers dropped to the floor as they heard four gunshots ring inside the venue, before the nightclub was quickly evacuated by security guards.

Suge reportedly walked out of the building after he was blasted with bullets where he was discovered by a police officer and rushed to the local hospital.

The suspected gunmen were detained by police and the venue was searched for clues.

Meanwhile, Suge is no stranger to gun violence as he was involved in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996, which ultimately led to Tupac Shakur's death.

The music mogul was also hit in the leg during a shooting at Kanye West's VMAs pre-party in 2005.
