Lauren Conrad has let each of her bridesmaids choose their own dress.

The former 'Hills' star is marrying her musician fiancé William Tell later this year and has been busy the last few months planning their nuptials.

Lauren has decided to buck tradition by letting the nine friends that will be walking down the aisle with her to pick any style dress from any shade of two colours.

Speaking to Martha Stewart Weddings magazine, she revealed: "I don't think it needs to look too cohesive. They're all individuals, so it's nice that it doesn't look too uniform.

"I sent them all the different shapes and let them pick. I don't mind if there are a few girls in the same dress, or if people are all in different ones. It's too difficult to take a group of girls and put them in the same colour and silhouette; everyone has their own style."

The reality TV star - who shot to fame on MTV show 'Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County' - used her own engagement ring to inspire the necklaces she's had made for her bridesmaids.

She added: "My jewellery team at Kohl's made me necklaces. We found this little diamond ring piece that looks just like my ring, so I did rose gold necklaces for everybody and then sent it with a 'Will you be my bridesmaid?' card."

Lauren, 28, and William, 34, got engaged in October 2013 and after being in a relationship since early 2012.
