Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have got married in secret.

The couple tied the knot in France last weekend after nine years together, a spokesperson has confirmed to PEOPLE magazine.

The 50 year-old actor and the 39-year-old actress, who met while shooting 2012 movie 'Mr and Mrs. Smith', got engaged in 2012.

Angelina and Brad have children Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, and five-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox together and the 'Maleficent' star revealed in May that the couple were waiting for the "right time" to get married.

She said: "We're just waiting for it to be the right time with the kids, with work, when it feels right.

"We talk about it occasionally, and the kids talk about it with us."

Details of the ceremony are being kept under wraps but Angelina previously admitted the couple's children were going to plan their nuptials.

She explained: "They will in a way be the wedding planners. It's going to be Disney or paintball – one or the other! We've got a lot of different personalities in the house.

"They've got some strong opinions. It will be fun. That's the important thing. When we do it, it will feel like a great day for our family."

Angelina – who underwent a double mastectomy last year – and Brad will get the chance to toast their wedding in perfect style in their upcoming movie 'By The Sea' after Us Weekly reported they are preparing to shoot some "crazy sex scenes" in the motion picture.

Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005, while Angelina wed Johnny Lee Miller in 1996 but they divorced in 1999 and she later tied the knot to Billy Bob Thornton in 2000 but they split in 2003.
