Jessica Alba insists she is too independent to be a stay-at-home mother.

The 33-year-old actress - who has children Honor, six, and two-year-old Haven, with husband Cash Warren - admits she likes to still do movies because she wants to set an example for her children to show them they can go out and work to pay their own way in life.

She said: "I think it's different for everyone. Some mums really don't want to work and that's fine.

"For me, I wouldn't know what that is like because that's a part of who I am. I have aspirations.

"I want to be with my kids so they can see that in their life they can be anything they want and they can do their own thing and pay their own way.

"The independence that you gain from working is pretty awesome. My kids might be different when they grow up, but that's up to them."

Despite juggling both motherhood and an acting career, the 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' star insists she still sometimes feels she is missing out.

She added to Loaded magazine: "I am very, very lucky in that I have a lot of help.

"But even then, there is always at least one part of me - wife, mother, actress, businesswoman - that I feel is missing out somehow."

The latest issue of Loaded magazine - with Pharrell Williams on the cover - is available to buy now.
