Ringo Starr is selling his £20 million estate.

The Beatles drummer, 74, and his wife, former Bond girl Barbara Bach, have put their 200-acre abode, Rydinghurst in Surrey, south east England, up for sale because they no longer spend enough time in the six-bedroom mansion.

They told the Sunday Times newspaper: "We have spent 15 years at Rydinghurst and will always have wonderful memories of our time there.

"It is a beautiful home with some very special features, but we are, reluctantly, unable to spend as much time there as we would wish.

"With commitments in America and our family in all England, we will continue to divide our time between Los Angeles and London."

The couple - who married in 1981 - splashed out £2 million on the plush property back in 1999 and it is expected to reach between £10 million and £20 million when it goes on sale this week.

As well as 200 acres of land, the house boasts several impressive features including two music rooms, a cinema, a cottage and a coach house which comes with its own cottage and staff quarters.

What's more, the abode is surrounded by picturesque lakes, a helipad, a stable block and an indoor riding school.

Nicky Haslam, the interior designer who gave the abode a makeover after the couple bought it from Count George Bardeau in 1999, admitted the music rooms and the kitchen are particular house highlights.

He said: "I was given pretty much free rein with the decor, but Ringo wanted a music room for his gold records and drum kits, and there's another big music room, more like a ballroom, for performing.

"There's a wonderful kitchen, as they both like to cook and have specific food requirements.

"It had to be big enough to eat in, and there's a pretty herb garden outside."

When they sell their Surrey home, Ringo and Barbara will have just one home remaining in the UK, off the King's Road in Chelsea, west London, to go with their property in Los Angeles.
