Nicole Scherzinger cried when she met Whitney Houston - but her idol didn't even look at her.

The 'Poison' hitmaker was a huge fan of the 'I Will Always Love You' singer - who died in February 2012 - and despite a fairly disappointing meeting with the late star, Nicole insists it was still a "beautiful moment".

She said: "I met Whitney, briefly, the story's not that great. The Pussycat Dolls were singing for a Christian Dior show and Bobby [Brown] was like 'We gotta do something together'. Whitney was in the background going, 'Come on Bobby, we gotta go'.

"I was like, 'But I love you Whitney', and then I cried and she was gone. It was beautiful at that moment for me, I made it what it needed to be but I don't think she even looked at me.

"But then I love her, she's the reason why I sing."

The 36-year-old beauty also revealed her one big "regret" in life was turning down the chance to meet Michael Jackson because she was on vocal rest ahead of a big performance.

Speaking to Graham Norton on BBC Radio 2, she said: "Michael, that's the one regret, my friend will.i.am called me, we were opening the American Music Awards and he was like, 'Michael's here in the studio, he wants to meet you'.

"I could hear him in the background but I'm so darn strict about my vocals I was like, 'No, I've gotta rest my vocals for tomorrow, I'll meet him like next week or something' and I never went and that's my one regret."
