Robert Downey Jr. wants to introduce his baby daughter to Sherlock when she's born.

The 49-year-old actor - who appeared as the titular character in the 2009 movie 'Sherlock Holmes' and the sequel 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows' - thinks the character is his film alter ego that he would most like his girl to meet, although he doesn't think the fictional detective would be a "good babysitter".

When asked which of his characters he would like to introduce her to, he told UK station BBC Radio 1: "Sherlock's kind of cool, but I don't know if Sherlock would be a good babysitter!"

The Hollywood star - whose wife, Susan Downey, is eight months pregnant - also revealed that their two-year-old son Exton Elias Downey is a fan of 'The Avengers', but isn't drawn to 'Iron Man' despite the fact that his dad has played armoured superhero several times.

He explained: "I have an almost three year old and I don't know why I'm such a company man, like, we'll take baths and I'll put little Avengers there and I'm like, 'Which one's that?' And he's like, 'Nick Fury.' I go, 'Which one do you like?' And I'm holding Iron Man in front of him, and he goes, 'Hawkeye!' "
