    Alan Cumming thinks Shia LeBeouf was "messed up" when he slapped his butt during his performance in 'Cabaret'.

    The 49-year-old actor - who was appearing in the Broadway production alongside Michelle Williams in June - was smacked on the bottom by the 'Transformers' star as he made his way through the audience, later leading to Shia's arrest.


    However, Alan brushed off the behaviour of the 28-year-old actor - who recently claimed he had grabbed Alan's butt because he is "the sexiest man he'd ever seen" - and believes that, unfortunately for Shia, he was just "out of it" in a very public place.

    He told Conan O'Brien during an episode of his talk show which airs tonight (21.10.14): "I walk into the audience at one point, I introduce Michelle Williams, and then I walk into the audience and go back and come down. As I walked past him, he was on a table at the end of a row, he whacked me ... and then other things, you know, he was smoking ... We've all done things where we've been out of it and messed up, and not everyone has to deal with it on such a worldwide scale.

    "He did say the reason he did it was because I was the sexiest man he'd ever seen."

    He added: I think he was just really messed up. He was just wasted from the second he walked in, so there was an atmosphere. When I went downstairs on the stage to start the show everyone was freaking out, because there seemed to be a crazy person shouting and stuff."

    Shia opened up about his bizarre behaviour last week, claiming he slapped the actor because of his good looks, saying: "I give him a slap on the ass, because I think he deserves it. He's the sexiest man I've ever seen. I don't just slap it slap it. I grabbed him - like, I grabbed a whole cheek because I wanted the party right here in my pants. I wanted the whole party. So, he finds a way to wiggle out of my Hercules grip and I'm a little disappointed about it."

    Shia was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing during the performance, in which he is also said to have been "harassing audience members and chain smoking inside the theatre".
