    Sean Hayes has got engaged.

The 'Will and Grace' star - who is best known for his role as Jack McFarland in the NBC sitcom - sparked speculation he is set to marry his fiancé Scott Icenogle when he wore a band on his left ring finger during an appearance on CBS morning show 'The Talk' on Monday.

Confirming the rumour, Sean's representative told website RumorFix: "Sean Hayes and Scott Icenogle have been together for eight years. They are not yet married, but they have been engaged for quite some time."

The 44-year-old actor referred to music producer Scott as his "other half" last week while on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' and spoke about the pair going on a jaunt to Istanbul with his 'The Millers' co-star Will Arnett.

He said: "We know how the Middle East loves the gays, so fantastic, I'm there with bells on, literally."

Sean came out publicly in a 2010 magazine interview when he said: "Really? You're gonna shoot the gay guy down? I never have had a problem saying who I am. I am who I am. I was never in, as they say. Never."

The star is known for not speaking publicly about his private life and admitted in the same interview that he doesn't like to say too much about his personal life to ensure his characters are even more believable.

He told The Advocate: "When I play a gay character I want to be as believable as possible. And when I’m playing a straight character I also want to be as believable as possible. So the less that people know about my personal life, the more believable I can be as a character."
