Jon Stewart jokes he wants to rip Benedict Cumberbatch's clothes off

The 'Sherlock' actor was starring on an episode of 'The Daily Show' when the 51-year-old host admitted he would love to tear off the star's outfit and auction it off on e-commerce website eBay.

He exclaimed: "I see a lot of guests, I see a lot of presidents and high profile heads of state, it's unbelievable. But you're the first guest where I want to rip your clothes off and sell it on eBay.

"I don't know why. It's upsetting to me."

The host then went on to warn the '12 Years a Slave' actor against re-enacting a recent set of photographs taken of Kim Kardashian West for Paper magazine, which showed the reality TV star's bare derriere.

He quipped: "I feel like if you were to go on the internet and oil up your backside and bare it in a Kardashian-like pose, this planet could end."

Despite the 38-year-old star - who recently proposed to his long-term girlfriend, Sophie Hunter - being off the market for any hopeful suitors, the presenter commented on the extreme reaction which seems to follow him when it comes to the excitable behaviour of his fans.

He said: "You must get a lot of that, the shrieking, the jumping, the clapping?"

Benedict replied: "It doesn't ever normalise. It's wonderful but very strange."

The interview airs on 'The Daily Show' on Comedy Central Extra tomorrow morning (20.11.14) at 00.25am.
