Lily Allen didn't enjoy sex until her mid-twenties.

The 'Air Balloon' singer has admitted she found sex to be disappointing when she lost her virginity, blaming films for giving her false expectations, and has only loved getting down and dirty in the bedroom since meeting her husband, Sam Cooper, who she married in 2011.

She confessed: "Sex definitely lacked magic for a long time for me.

"Girls don't really start enjoying sex until their mid-twenties.

"I remember when I became sexually active thinking, 'Where's all that stuff that happens in the movies?' The reality was a disappointment."

The 29-year-old star - who released her third studio album, 'Sheezus', earlier this year - has been vocal about her sex life in her music, with 'Not Fair' scalding a partner for his premature ejaculation, while 'L8 CMMR' praised Sam for his sexual prowess.

However, the musician went on to slam the rest of the media industry for depicting sex in an unrealistic way.

She continued: "I think the way sex is presented in modern media is not a fair representation of what it actually is. There's too much emphasis on sex being almost an aesthetic thing - it's rarely presented as an emotive experience."

Lily - who recently supported 'Wrecking Ball' singer Miley Cyrus on a tour of the US - didn't talk about sex education with her parents, and said she hopes her daughters, Ethel Mary, two, and 22-month-old Marnie Rose.

Talking to the Mail on Sunday newspaper, she added: "I want my kids to know where they are and now that they're loved. And that they can always talk to me and Sam."
