Ansel Elgort lost his virginity while listening to Ne-Yo.

The 'Fault in Our Stars' actor was delighted to run into the 'So Sick' hitmaker at the American Music Awards (AMAs) at the weekend, but stopped short of sharing his intimate memories of the singer's music.

He said: "I just bumped into Ne-Yo, hes a legend, I think I had sex for the first time listening to [2008 album] 'Year of the Gentleman'.

"Did I tell him? I didn't, I will though, maybe later."

Despite his global box office success, Ansel, 20, insists he doesn't get recognised very much but appreciates being able to go out without being bothered.

He said: "Not many people know who I am, which is nice though."

While he insists few people know who he is, the 'Divergent' star was astonished when 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane wanted to be his friend.

He told 'Extra' on the red carpet at the AMAs: "Seth McFarlane reached out to me, that was pretty sick, I was like, 'Woah', he asked if I wanted to come over and hang out, I was like 'I live in New York, but I'll be there tomorrow, I'll get on a plane.' "

Away from movies, Ansel is a keen musician and would love to work with Ariana Grande.

He said: "I love Ariana Grande's voice, I'd love her to sing on my stuff. I'm a little less poppy than that, but still."
