Jake Johnson thinks Zooey Deschanel will be a "great mum".

The 36-year-old actor - who stars alongside the pregnant actress in 'New Girl' - has revealed that the 35-year-old star is "really excited" about the future arrival.

He said: "I'm excited for her. We're really excited. She and Jacob are so excited and I couldn't be happier for Zooey.

"She's a good friend and this is an awesome thing in her life. I think she's going to be a great mum."

Jake - who plays Nick Miller in the popular sitcom - also revealed that Zooey's pregnancy won't be written in the show's script.

Talking about Zoeey's character, Jess, he added to E! News: "No, Jess is not going to have a baby.

"It'd be a weird Three Men and a Baby vibe… just imagine how weird Winston would be around that baby!"

Meanwhile, Zooey - who is having the baby with her producer boyfriend Jacob Pechenik - confirmed the news earlier this week.

She said at the time: "Jacob and I are over the moon. We are so excited to meet our little one."

The star will also be happy once she gives birth to her first child because she is sick of being asked if she wants children in every interview she does and is unhappy that her male counterparts don't get asked similar questions.

She said previously: "Like every woman is dying to give birth! I don't think so. Nobody asks guys that.

"And you go into a supermarket and every tabloid is like, 'Pregnant and Alone!' Stuck in the 1950s ideal of how a woman should live her life. This brings out the fiery feminist in me."
