Meghan Trainor speaks in an English accent when she goes drinking.

The 21-year-old singer - who was born in Massachusetts in the US - is a big fan of the twang and while tries to master it on a daily basis, her attempts to perfect the tone of voice increase when she has a few beverages.

She said: "I love it. I love the accent. I've been practicing. I do it all the time. Sometimes it won't go away ... especially when I'm drinking."

The 'All About That Bass' hitmaker has enjoyed receiving gifts from fans in the UK this month while promoting her new album, 'Title', but she has been warned by her representatives to watch what she eats after they prevented her from eating a lips-shaped cake given to her by a young fan.

Speaking on TV channel London Live, she added: "One girl baked me a cookie in the shape of some lips. It was cute.

"So I was in the car after that reading the letter that she wrote to me which was beautiful and I said to my guys, 'You! Give me the cookie. I'm starving!' And they were like, 'No!' You can't just eat something some stranger cooked for you!’

"I said, 'Absolutely you can. She was a sweet young girl!' And they were like, ‘It's not a great idea in case anything is in there.' So I said, 'Well alright, you test it out for me and let me know!' "

London Live airs on Freeview 8, YouView 8, Sky 117 and Virgin 159.
