David Beckham praised his "beautiful wife" Victoria Beckham after treating her to a date night on Sunday.

The former footballer - who has children, Brooklyn, 15, Romeo, 12, Cruz, nine, and three-year-old Harper, with the fashion designer - took the 40-year-old brunette along to new pop-up bar HAIG CLUB London yesterday and later posted a picture of the pair both looking effortlessly elegant in black outfits.

In a caption attached to his Facebook post, he wrote: "Great to have my beautiful wife in attendance at my Haig Club London dinner. #HaigClubLondon (sic)"

David was clearly excited about taking Victoria along to see more of his work as a brand partner in HAIG CLUB Single Grain Scotch Whisky at the establishment as he also shared a picture of himself with a huge grin on his face as he sat in the car on the way to the event.

He wrote: "En route to Haig Club London. ?#?HaigClubLondon (sic)"

David also welcomed several of the couple's good friends to the HAIG CLUB London bar at the Wellington Arch in London's Hyde Park Corner, where it will reside for a week, including Idris Elba, Guy Ritchie, David Furnish and Tana Ramsey.

The guests were served HAIG CLUB cocktails as well as food from Michelin starred chef Brett Graham in the 1920s-style establishment.

As well as toasting the launch of HAIG CLUB London's new residency, David also had another reason to celebrate as he was named the top celebrity role model in a new study.

According to the poll commissioned by Sky - which conducted the survey to celebrate the launch of the third series of Sky 1's 'Moone Boy', which sees Chris O'Dowd play an imaginary friend - the 39-year-old hunk is the celebrity most people look up to.

David managed to top the poll above two fictional characters, Harry Potter - who was played by Daniel Radcliffe in the 'Harry Potter' film franchise - and Elsa from animated movie 'Frozen', who is voiced by Idina Menzel.

'Moone Boy' airs on Sky1 at 9pm every Monday.
