Kelly Clarkson snubbed the Grammy Awards because she had "no reason" to go.

The 32-year-old singer - who has eight-month-old daughter River Rose with husband Brandon Blackstock - didn't want to leave her child in favour of the star-studded music awards ceremony last month because she hadn't released her seventh studio album, 'Piece by Piece', at the time.

She said: "There was no reason for me to go. I don't have anything out, I'll go next year.

"Also I have a beautiful little baby, so if there's no real need for me to leave home then I don't."

The blonde star - whose latest record is now out - admitted she is really enjoying family life and believes she's found a man who will look after her, admitting she didn't know it was possible because of her strained relations with her father following his divorce from the singer's mother.

She said: "I didn't even know a guy existed that wouldn't abandon you at some point.

"When your father does that, and they're supposed to be the one that loves you the most, you're like, 'Oh God, if they didn't then surely no one else will.' "

The 'Since U Been Gone' hitmaker admits she wasn't always lucky in love before she met Brandon and once went on a blind date with someone who insisted on using her full name every time he addressed her.

She added to Metro newspaper: "I went on a sort of blind date with someone in the music world and that didn't work out because they used my full name the whole time.

"They'd say, 'I can't believe I'm on a date with Kelly Clarkson.' And I was like, 'I can't believe you're still using my full name!' I wanted to run."
