Christina Milian says she almost developed an eating disorder in the past

The 33-year-old singer, who has five-year-old daughter Violet with producer ex-husband The-Dream, admits she struggled with body image issues after she found fame and "considered" spitting out food in a desperate bid to stay trim.

The 'Dip It Low' hitmaker said: "No [eating] disorders, although I considered it [Laughs]. I was like maybe if I chew and spit this could work."

But the brunette beauty, who has been linked to rapper Lil Wayne since last summer, is determined to set a healthy example for her daughter.

She told the May issue of Latina magazine: "I want Violet to be proud of every little thing that is her - her hair, her body. We're all different and from early on I've always said she has a very confident personality and I want her to maintain that. I don't want her to be stuck thinking about the scale or thinking, 'I gotta have straight hair' and all of this."

Christina previously claimed she often worked out twice a day because she doesn't have "great genes."

Speaking to Shape magazine in 2009, she said: "I have to work out because in my family we don't have those great genes where you can just eat whatever you want and stay skinny. When I'm really trying to get in shape for a role or going on the road, I work out six days a week, sometimes twice a day."
