Vin Diesel was "guided" into fatherhood by the late Paul Walker.

The Hollywood star has spoken about how his 'Fast and Furious' co-star - who tragically died after being involved in a fatal car crash in November 2013 - was there to show him the ropes after becoming a father to Meadow, now 16, at 25 years old.

He said: "[Paul] went into fatherhood a lot earlier than I did. He took on that role of kind of being the guide into fatherhood for me. It's kind of beautiful."

The 47-year-old actor also recalled the time Paul shut down production of the film's fifth instalment in 2010 so Vin could attend the birth of his son Vincent Sinclair, now four.

Speaking in a previously unseen clip from his interview with the 'Today Show', Vin said: "The one thing Paul always wanted me to do was be present at my child's birth. He was so adamant about it.

"We were in Puerto Rico doing the [last] scene. Paul Walker and I came out of the car and [we found out] her water broke in New York. My son was being born. He was like, 'We can film later. You have to go now.' And he was right and I did."

And to honour their late friend, Vin and his partner Paloma Jimenez recently revealed they named their new arrival after the late actor.

He added: "I named her Pauline. There's no other person that I'm thinking about as I'm cutting this umbilical cord. "I knew he was there and I felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my memory, a part of my world."
