Giuliana Rancic's surrogate suffered another miscarriage late last year

The 'Fashion Police' co-host, whose two-year-old son Duke was carried to term via a gestational carrier called Delphine in 2013, says she and husband Bill Rancic are now thinking about adopting a baby because they have no embryos left after Delphine miscarried on New Year's Eve for the second time.

The 40-year-old star, who is unable to get pregnant due to medication she is still taking after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, told PEOPLE magazine: "We were so optimistic about the last embryo. It was really tough news to be dealt. We thought, 'This is definitely going to work. This is our last shot.' "

Giuliana admits it "was the toughest blow" when she found out the news in December.

She added: "It was a really hard time."

The couple were also "distraught" last summer when Delphine suffered a miscarriage at nine weeks.

But the 'E! News' anchor refuses to give up hope and is now looking into adoption.

She said: "We're open to everything. I think adoption is a beautiful gift you're giving each other. And it's funny, I'm even more open to [adoption] than I was before. Because I think to myself, 'I love Duke so much, if I couldn't take care of him, I hope there would be someone else who would love him.' "
