Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are "stronger than ever"

The couple briefly split in 2013 but the 'Wall Street' actor has confirmed the pair's relationship is back on track again.

Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres show, he said: "It can't be a one-way street. But I'm crazy about her. And yeah, I think every couple has their difficult times.

"The only problem is, as you well know, we're all in the public eye, and it tends to get a little more exposed than most. We're back stronger than ever."

The pair have had to go through some tough times recently including when the 70-year-old star was diagnosed with tongue cancer in 2000.

Addressing a group of doctors, the 'Ocean's Twelve' actress, 45, previously admitted she was left a "mess" after being told the tragic news.

She said: "I'm very happy to be here this morning with my husband. I mean that literally; I'm very happy to be here with my husband.

"I was a mess. I'll be quite frank, I was a mess. When I'm married to a man who has such a conviction for life ... he fights to make the wrongs right. For the first time he was fighting for his life."

Michael - who has been cancer-free since 2011 - and Catherine have two children together, 14-year-old son Dylan and 11-year-old daughter Carys.
